In this talk, the speaker will share her current literature review study on the application of Virtual Reality (VR) in language education. She will analyze 70 related empirical studies published by 12 scholarly journals between 2010 and A coding framework will be presented for conducting a systematic literature review on the general publication trends, research methods, research foci and benefits and challenges of VR-supported language education. She will also share her team’s recent teaching practice and empirical studies on VR-supported English language learning at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in China, a pioneering institute with a long tradition in CALL research and practice.
Chunping ZHENG currently serves as the Professor at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in China. She is the Associate Dean of the Department of Foreign Languages at School of Humanities and the Director of Center for Research on Technology-Enhanced Language Learning. She is the awardee the “Outstanding University Teacher in Beijing Municipal” and “the Beijing Higher Education Young Elite Teacher Project”. She is now the principal investigator of both National Science and National Social Science Foundation in China. Her major research interests are intelligent CALL, CALL pedagogies and learner characteristics. She has published one monograph, three textbooks and over 80 journal articles. She is the guest editor for Educational Technology & Society and the editorial board member for Journal of China Computer-Assisted Language Learning.
